WODONGA, AUSTRALIA — Mars Australia’s WHISKAS® brand recently released enhanced recipes and modernized packaging designs in Australia amidst a rising cat population in the country.
According to Ipsos’s Pet Ownership in Australia Study, Australia’s cat population is hovering near 4.34 million with 29% of households in the country owning at least one cat, an increase from 3.69 million from 2017. Additionally, Gen X has taken the lead in cat ownership with 33% owning a cat, and males represent the largest sample of cat ownership with 47% owning a cat, according to the study. Regarding feeding preferences in cats, the study also found that 74% of cat parents feed their felines a mix of wet and dry commercial pet foods.
With all these emerging trends in mind, WHISKAS has made the move to modernize its wet pouch recipes under its Favorites line. The new pouches include enhanced recipes made with real meat and a chunky texture to provide cats with essential nutrition.
The improvements to its pouch packaging follows WHISKAS’s successful launch of the new packaging and enhanced formulas in Europe this past January. The enhanced pouch range is available at leading Australian retailers.
