Woman Shares Snippets Of Prancing Dog And Gets Backlash For It

When Fenix was just a puppy, he faced significant challenges due to a brain disorder he was born with that affected his movement. Now, the gorgeous white Husky with striking blue eyes is lively and joyous, spreading his zest for life all around the world. Fenix was diagnosed with cerebellar hypoplasia and struggled with balance and coordination from birth. At two months old, he and his sister were left at a high-kill shelter, both exhibiting weakness and tremors. Unable to stand or walk without falling, Fenix received the necessary support and affection from a rescue organization named I Stand With My Pack, preparing him for adoption. Zoe Lumiere and her husband, Eric, had been on the hunt for a dog to adopt, exploring shelters and browsing Petfinder.

Upon spotting Fenix on the app, Eric was captivated and shared his find with Zoe. Zoe recalls being moved to tears by Fenix’s story and condition. They met Fenix and welcomed him into their home the following day. Originally named “Phoenix” by the shelter to symbolize his resilience, Zoe and Eric opted for the spelling “Fenix,” finding it whimsically fitting. With time, Fenix adapted to his condition, walking slowly and broadly and enjoying multiple daily walks led by Zoe.

Despite his condition, Fenix is capable of many activities like other dogs and is pain-free, according to several veterinarians. His positive demeanor inspired the “Happy Guy Movement,” attracting nearly 200,000 Instagram followers, 2.1 million on TikTok, and over 9.6 million likes.

A video of Fenix dancing to “Happy Dog” gained 7 million likes. Zoe’s intent is to share motivational messages with Fenix’s fans to inspire disability inclusion and awareness. Most followers are thrilled to see Fenix happily strut about to songs by Elton John and the theme of Footloose, while others aren’t so keen. They claim Zoe is making light of Fenix’s condition and find the posts inappropriate.

Zoe disagrees and continues to celebrate and recognize disabilities rather than hiding or shaming them. She highlights Fenix’s content life and absence of pain despite his disorder, believing Fenix’s story positively impacts the disability community, encouraging acceptance and pride in being different.
