The Clinton County Sherriff says the dogs are recovering well and some will soon be ready to go to NEW HOMES. BUT NOW, their health has improved so much – they’re almost ready to be adopted. (áááVOááá) “Chocolate” has been at the Clinton County Jail since February 27th. The pitbull is one of nearly 50 dogs rescued from “a canine gem” in Beekmantown. CHOCOLATE – WAS VERY SKINNY when he was first brought to the jail. Authorities say the animals were SEVERELY UNDERFED – some UNABLE TO STAND TO DUE PROPER CARE. BUT 2 AND HALF WEEKS LATER, The sheriff says the PUPS have gained a combined 275 POUNDS – and are doing much better. Having a really good time and starting to give back to us, to the people, which is the way pets should be.” (áááVOááá) THIS WEEK, THE OWNER OF ‘A CANINE GEM’ HILARY DAVIS SURRENDERED CUSTODY OF THE DOGS TO THE PERU-BASED ANIMAL SHELTER AT A BOND HEARING IN COURT… (áááNAT SOUNDááá) DOG BARKING (áááVOáááá) the dogs are getting final health examinations before the adoptions can officially start, but Elmore is already accepting applications online. if you are interested in adopting THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF ELMORE SPCA SAYS YOU SHOULD BE PREPARED that the dogs may need extra care. (áááSOTááá) REBECCA MOSS- PATNODE EXECUTIVE 22;43;14;12 “There is the potential that some of these dogs may have ongoing health issues and behavior issues. So we’re looking for owners who are willing to make a commitment to provide the time and patience needed to work through these potential issues.” (áááNAT SOUNDááá) <DOG BARKING> (áááVOááá) A FEW DOGS are STILL DEALING WITH SOME SERIOUS HEALTH ISSUES. ..but Sheriff Favro says they’re all expected to recover. (áááSOTááá) CLINTON COUNTY 22;38;46;16 – 22;39;02;14 “It’s going to take some continued maintenance to get them back to perfect health. But there’s none, from my understanding, that are in Jeopardy or are considered very critical condition.” (áááVOááá) BUT BOTH THE SHERIFF department AND THE ANIMAL RESCUE are eager to help the dogs have a happy and healthy fresh start. The Elmore SPCA and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office are holding a meet and greet event for members of the public to interact with some of the dogs who were seized earlier this year from a Beekmantown animal rescue.Fifteen dogs will be featured in the meet and greet event, which is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in the parking lot of the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, April 20.Several dogs will be featured throughout each hour of the event, which runs until 2 p.m., according to organizers.Officials are asking that no children under 10 and no pets attend the meet & greet.NBC5 will be sending a crew to learn more about the event on Saturday.
